Mardi Gras Masquerade

Hi all! Libby here. Now, I don't know if you've even herd of Mardi Gras. I only know about it from a book I read. This is how the dictionary defined it: a carnival held in some countries on Shrove Tuesday, most famously in New Orleans. Now it just so happens that our friend Liz Miller had also herd of Mardi Gras and had invited us over for a costume party at her house.

 Side Note: This is Marie's newest painting. Isn't it pretty?

 We all forgot about masks. One simply must have masks at a Masquerade mustn't one? So, I photo edited these masks in.

 While Marie-Grace and Liz had a talk...........

 I snagged a cookie from the bowl! Yum!

"You know what?" said Liz to Marie, "I read a book about thieving Indians recently. Hem, hem Libby. Why don't you wait for the rest of us?" "Well than," I replied, "Let's dig in!"

"You know," I remarked, grabbing the last cookie, "At the Mardi Gras party I read about, there was dancing."

"Well then," said Liz, trying to sound grand, "We shalt dance." So we swept around the room, tripping over each other's feet.

After that we played a game called "Don't laugh Copycat!" Here are Our best pictures of that.

Before we had to leave, I had a nice long talk with Liz. I always have lots of fun with her.

To the Circus!

 Good day pleasant readers! First of all I am very sorry that I didn't post this on Tuesday, which was Father's birthday. We all went to the circus. None of us had ever been to a circus before, so it was most exciting.

The circus was held inside of one of the buildings used for the State Fair in Grand Island. It was a very fitting place.

 Libby asked me to take a picture of her cotton candy. She said it felt right, somehow, to be having cotton candy at the circus. I quite agreed with her.

Here, the animal trainer riding in.

First, came the pony act. One would never guess that ponies could do that!

Then we had juggling. This is the foot juggler. He juggled a great many things.

Even fire!

After the juggling came a dog act. The dogs were very cute.

Following the dog act came a high in the air act. That was most captivating.

Then, another act, by name "Tahar and the Jaws of Death", an alligator act. I didn't like that one quite as much.

The motorcycle act was amazing. If you look closely at our blurry photos you can see the motorcycles in the air.

During this particular stunt, Libby screamed.

Then, the same people who did the juggling did well, this.

Libby said that the Elephant act was most likely her favorite. Perhaps you can see why.

Just in case you were going to ask, indeed this elephant is balancing on this ball. Libby proclaimed that that was the most amazing thing she had ever seen an elephant do.

The very last thing thrill we experienced at the circus was the human canon ball. This is the only picture I managed to take.

The circus wasn't exactly how I expected but as Libby says, "Barely anything turns out exactly how we expect, but it's usually ten times better."

A Snowy Day

 Hi all! Libby here. It finally, FINALLY, snowed here! I've been waiting and waiting and waiting and WAITING!!

 When I woke up, I was SO excited! I wanted to go out right then BUT I needed to do my schoolwork. Ugh.

 It was very, VERY hard to wait.

 And now I have to practice piano to! Oh, we haven't told you that yet, have we? Mom really truly bought a factory second piano  and started me and Marie in piano! I can't believe it! I'm devastated.

 At last I was done.

I decided to make some snow angels.

 I made a few, but then I got cold and went inside. After that, Marie went to the creek to go ice skating. These are the pictures she showed me.

Eventually, even Marie-Grace got cold and came inside.

This is what Marie -Grace did for the rest of the afternoon. I was really surprised when she bought these horses from Second Hand Rose.

I read, and had a great time of it to.

Oh, I forgot to mention, that in the morning, before schoolwork, I was able to go out and take some pictures. Here are my two favorites.

I took this one in honer of Valentine's day coming up. Marie and I have made lots of valentines and am planning on having a valentine's party! But we'll save that for later.
