Beauty and the Beast-Shocking, but not Surprising

I don't know about you all, but when I get obsessed with something, I get very fully obsessed. With Disney's new Beauty and the Beast, I almost memorized every trailer and clip Disney released, I watched many interviews with the cast, and had hour-long phone conversations about it; just obsessing.
 And now this...
I suppose by now many of you have heard the news about this movie; One of the characters. Lefou, will be gay.
I know it isn't really a big deal for some people. I know some people will enjoy this movie as much as Cinderella a few years ago. Some will turn a deaf ear to this situation. After all, we've learned to ignore the feminist undertones of movies like Brave, haven't we?
Ignore, or accept it as normal? Isn't that just what they're going for anyway? Us thinking, "This is normal, this is okay?"
And even if we'd never think this, what about all the kids going to see this movie? I know a mother, who can't, in good conscience, bring her little girl to Beauty and the Beast. Children are so trusting. Little kids, going to this movie, will probably do just what they wanted;accept this as normal and okay.
I guess what makes me sad is that Disney has been making such good movies lately. I thought I knew that they had a main purpose; to give us sweet, wholesome movies that kids as well as their parents would enjoy.
And perhaps that is still their main purpose. But now, it's like we've seen a little agenda they have going. It's like they're trying to feed us the "this is okay, this is normal" message, under the cover of a very sweet, very beautiful movie. It's just another place I can't trust anymore.
Now, I not damning this movie. I'm not saying you shouldn't go see it. I have yet to decide if i'm still going. I'm just trying to warn you. Do what your conscience calls for.
And please, let me know your thought on the movie below.
Should Christians go to it?

Beauty from Him

Hi guys! This is Libby. Recently I was traveling with my family in CA, and we saw some gorgeous scenery  near San Luis Reservoir. Here's a sample.
  Isn't that beautiful?
The thing is, Mommy says, a while ago, this reservoir was almost empty. I bet the hills weren't so green then either. Not half as beautiful.
I thought of it kind of like us. Sometimes, we don't shine with God quite as much as much as we'd want to. Maybe because we're thirsty for God and depriving ourselves from his presence. Maybe cause we have one or a couple sins strangling us. Or whatever.
But when we turn back to him, he showers us with the fruit of the Spirit and a natural, radiant beauty.  Our beauty is from our joy in Him. People love a beautiful park or yard beautified by man, but isn't it so much more amazing when God does it? It isn't a perfect analogy, but it struck me, and I wanted to share it with you.
P.S. I've been writing a story and I thought perhaps to present parts of it to you all for critique. Would you be interested?

A movie promotion

Hi girls! This is Libby. Don't worry, I'm not going to promote every movie I like, but this is an exception. Here's why:
So, I don't know how many of you have heard of Rachel Joy Scott, from the Columbine shooting in 1999.  More of you may have heard of Cassie Bernall (Who's read She said Yes, the book about Cassie?), who was also killed for her faith. Like Cassie's mother, Rachel's parents also wrote a book about their daughter's spiritual journey called Rachel's Tears. And honestly, girls, I am super obsessed with that book. I've read it over and over and every time, Rachel's amazing faith inspires me. From the trailer (you can see it Here), the movie looks really similar to the book, not to mention just plain amazing! It is a PG 13 movie about the events surrounding a school shooting, though, so be sure to be careful based on what you and and your parents are comfortable with you seeing.

It's not about me

Sometimes girls, honestly, I want people to notice me, not God in me. Sometimes, I want them to think about what a nice Christian girl I am, not about God. That looks so bad in black and white. Please tell me I'm not the only one!
Anyway, recently, when I was doing my quiet time, I was reminded in a roundabout way how much it's not about me. I was reading from John 12:25-33 when I came to this; "and I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself." Immediately I got a picture of all people coming and kneeling before Jesus on the cross.

It was kind of like these lovely silhouette pictures we see sometimes but with all types of people kneeling. The picture reminds me vividly how much it's not about me. The TobyMac song, Beyond Me, also reminds me of that  (Because it has the same theme).
What I thought was, people don't stare at the person who points to the reason they're all kneeling. And I don't think that's really what we want, when it's put into perspective. Our human nature wants people to look at us, but when we see Jesus again, we realize how much how much more He's worth looking at. And then, in the end, I want people to look at him. To see him in me.
Isn't He wonderful?

I'm back!

Hi guys! I know I haven't posted in forever. Bella from A Doll's Life was sweet enough to ask if I would be posting again. Well Bella and everyone else, I'm really sorry, but I really don't enjoy doing doll stuff that much anymore. I thought I would give my blog a makeover. I'll keep being Libby Gardener, but only in name. Now I'm me: A teenage girl who first and foremost is a servant of Christ Jesus. Some of my hobbies are singing, dancing, acting, babysitting, reading, art and writing. I think this blog will be mainly to teach girls what little I know about following God. Not because I'm super wise or such a great teacher, but just cause I've been through some of those things you have.
I'd love suggestions on things to write about if you have any!
